Wal-Marts New Marketing,Good Or Bad? Lets Talk!

Good Day My Fellow Shoppers,
I have heard that Wal-Mart has a new marketing strategy,o ya a new one! Ok lets see how they are doing this, their positioning them selfs as metrosexual, upscale, socially responsible and sensitive. Ya right sensitive get real!
Now the upgrading of the merchandise includes,$500 bottles of wine, you can get allot of wine from me delivered right to your door for that! They are geting organic foods,$2000 plasma Tvs,400 thread-count sheets, imported balsamic vinegar what every day person like you and me,is going to say hay lets get that balsamic vinegar that wal-mart has? They are now having in their line up microbrewed beer and yes Metro 7 line of designer fashions, yes we all are looking for designer fashions at wal-mart!
Now what is not going to be there anymore,no more layaway plans,no shotguns and hunting gear, and less automotive tools and supplies. Now lets get to the employees or should I say associates as Wal-Mart calls them.
A fashion designer was brought in,this designer said the the blue vest was to tacky. So Wal-Mart is giving a makeover not only to 1,800 stores, but to also to the clerks. A new dress code is going into effect,Khaki pants and navy blue polo shirts, giving a fashion feel of business casual. Thats great, but who has to pay for it? Ya you guest it the workers!! And a average worker gets around $8.23 an hour,a proverty-level wage, that is about $16,700 a year gross. That is if they worked a 40 hour week, but it is common for the bosses to hold workers under 24 hours a week. That brings it to $10,000 a year! Now how can they live on that never mind paying for new fashion Khaki pants and navy blue polo shirts!!
Now lets take a look at the lavishing of wealth at the top, CEO H.Lee Scott, Jr., had a base salary of $1.3 million in 2005,plus $4 million in "incentive" payments,as well as stock and other compensations that raised his total to $17.5 million. And $1000,000 for personal use of corporate jets!! How about that! Thats not all,Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton's widow and four children, who collectively hold 40 percent of the corporation's stock, they are living grandly. Now they are sitting on a nest-egg of $15.5 billion each!
Now meanwhile less then half of Wal-Marts workers get heath care benefits, and the one,s that do must pay 41% of the cost for a lousy plan! Now what is up with that? And they put caps on the wages of rank-and-file employees. They call that being sensitive,I don,t think so!!! I think Wal-Mart needs to get off their pockets and start paying their hard working employees more, give them more hours and better heath care. Not selling $500 bottles of wine that Wal-Mart shoppers can not afford anyway.
There is allot more to read about on this, just go to alternet.org/story/47224/ then come back and tell me what you think. And Remember,STAY SHOPPING!!
