Shopping For Mushrooms,Or Should I Say Hunting

Hay Shoppers,
Yes spring is here and for all you mushroom hunters you know what that means,Morels and Oyster mushroom will be popping up very soon.
There are to types of mushrooms that come up in the spring, they are the morels and Oysters. Lets start with the big one first and that is the o so good tasting Morels. Now Morels are one of the most hunted mushrooms in the world, they only come around in the spring late April - May. The Morel is hard to find and only grow at the right time. After a nice April shower about two days and the same in May. The yellow Morels are one of the first to come out in the second week of April-May. They are found mostly around dead apple and Burch trees. Then in last part of April-May the black Morel come out,and you can find them in mixed forest. Now they are hard to spot so you must look good, but after you spot the first one then all at once you will start seeing a lot of them like magic. That is a great felling for a Mushroom hunter.
Now lets take a look at the Oyster mushroom, these mushrooms are not so heard to find. They grow in mixed forest so can look for them along with your Black Morel hunting. After a nice little rain Oyster Mushrooms will pop out on the dead Elm or Burch trees, they look like clump of Oysters growing out of the tree. And when you know what they smell like, you can smell them in the air before seeing them. The smell leads me right to them, but I have been a mushroom hunter for about 25 years. The smell is like Oysters in the air, thats why they are called Oyster Mushrooms. (The look and smell). I will be posting articles on mushrooms all spring. If all fails on hunting them, you can do the old fish trick and go buy them and say you found them. At $40 a pound tho I don't know if you would want to do that. So keep a eye out for my next post on were to shop for these great mushrooms. If you have any questions go to my comments and post it. And Remember,KEEP SHOPPING!!
